Therapy Intensives in Charleston, SC

Sometimes meaningful work benefits from more time and space than a traditional weekly therapy session allows. Therapy intensives offer extended sessions designed for deeper, focused therapeutic work without the pressure of stopping just as important material begins to emerge.

Individual Intensives

Individual intensives provide additional time for experiential and trauma-informed approaches such as EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS)/Parts Work, somatic therapy, and nervous system regulation. Longer sessions allow space not only for deeper therapeutic work, but also for preparation, processing, grounding, and integration before the session ends.

Intensives may be especially helpful when you want to focus on a specific experience, pattern, transition, or area of healing—or when traditional weekly sessions feel too brief for the work you are ready to do.

Couples Intensives

Couples intensives create dedicated, uninterrupted time to move beyond the limitations of a traditional therapy hour. Extended sessions allow couples to slow down recurring patterns, explore underlying attachment and relationship dynamics, strengthen communication, repair ruptures, and practice new ways of connecting in real time.

Family Intensives

Family intensives provide extended time for families to explore patterns, improve communication, address conflict, and strengthen connection within the family system. The additional time allows space for multiple perspectives to be heard while supporting deeper understanding, repair, and healthier ways of relating.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is a therapy intensive different from a regular therapy session?

Therapy intensives provide a longer, uninterrupted period of time for focused therapeutic work. Rather than stopping after a traditional therapy hour, extended sessions allow more time for preparation, experiential work, processing, grounding, and integration.

How long are therapy intensives?

Intensives may be offered in two-, three-, or four-hour formats depending on your goals, needs, and the type of work being addressed. Your therapist will help determine the format that is most appropriate for you.

Do you offer EMDR intensives?

Yes. Individual intensives may incorporate EMDR along with other trauma-informed and experiential approaches such as IFS/Parts Work, somatic therapy, and nervous system regulation. The approach is individualized rather than following a one-size-fits-all protocol.

Do you offer couples and family therapy intensives?

Yes. Extended sessions can provide couples and families with dedicated time to explore patterns, improve communication, work through areas of conflict or disconnection, and strengthen relationships without the time constraints of a traditional session.

How do I know if an intensive is right for me?

Intensives aren’t appropriate for every person or situation. We begin by learning about what you’re hoping to address and determining whether an intensive format—or traditional ongoing therapy—would best support your needs.
