What Coaching Sessions Look Like

Every coaching relationship starts with a conversation about where you are and where you want to be. From there, sessions may include:

  • Goal setting, clarity, and accountability

  • Boundaries in relationships, work, and daily life

  • Confidence and self-worth

  • Nervous system regulation and mindfulness practices

  • Breaking patterns or people-pleasing, perfectionism, or self-doubt

  • Creating sustainable habits and routines

  • Navigating transitions, identity shifts, and next chapters

Your coach adjusts the pace and focus session to session, so the work stays relevant to what's actually happening in your life.

Coaching vs. Therapy: What's the Difference?

Coaching and Therapy can share some similarities: both are collaborative, supportive, and focused on meaningful change. The key difference is the purpose and scope of the work.

Therapy is provided by licensed mental health professionals and can address emotional distress, trauma, mental health symptoms, relationship patterns, and deeper psychological healing. Coaching is not mental health treatment. It is best suited for individuals who are generally functioning well and want structured support around goals, confidence, boundaries, habits, transitions, personal growth, or performance.

If you’re unsure which is the better fit, we’re happy to help you explore your options.

Who Coaching Is For

Coaching supports people who are ready to move forward on things like:

  • Feeling stuck, unmotivated, or unclear on next steps

  • Building confidence in a career, relationship, or life transition

  • Setting and holding boundaries

  • Breaking patterns of self-doubt or people-pleasing

  • Creating sustainable habits and routines

  • High-achieving individuals seeking clarity, perspective, and an intentional thought partner

Our Approach

Our coaching approach blends practical strategy with a holistic lens. We recognize that meaningful change involves more than setting goals – it also requires understanding your patterns, values, habits, relationships, and capacity for sustainable growth. Sessions may incorporate mindfulness, nervous system awareness, reflection, goal mapping, accountability, and practical action steps tailored to your life.

Coaching is not psychotherapy and does not involve diagnosis or treatment of mental health conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between coaching and therapy?

Therapy is provided by licensed mental health professionals and may address trauma, emotional distress, mental health symptoms, relationships patterns, and deeper psychological healing. Coaching is not mental health treatment. It is future-focused and best suited for people who are generally functioning well but want support with goals, confidence, boundaries, habits, transitions, personal growth, or performance. If you’re unsure which is the better fit, we’re happy to help you explore your options.

Who is holistic coaching best suited for?

Holistic coaching may be a good fit if you’re generally functioning well but want support gaining clarity, building confidence, strengthening boundaries, navigating a transition, changing habits, or moving toward meaningful personal or professional goals.

Do I need a specific goal to start coaching?

Not at all. Many clients begin with a general sense that something needs to shift – perhaps they feel stuck, uncertain, disconnected from themselves, or ready for a new chapter. Coaching can help you clarify what matters most and turn that clarity into meaningful, sustainable action.

Can I work with both a coach and a therapist?

Yes. Some people participate in coaching and therapy at the same time when the services address different needs. Others begin with one and later transition to the other. If you’re unsure what makes sense for you, our team can help you determine the most appropriate path.

Is coaching covered by insurance?

No it is not. Coaching is a self-pay service and is not billed through insurance. Because coaching is not psychotherapy or mental health treatment, superbills are not provided for coaching services.

Do you offer virtual coaching sessions?

Yes. Coaching is available virtually as well as in person in Mount Pleasant. Virtual coaching offers flexibility for clients who prefer to meet from home, travel frequently, or live outside the Charleston area.
