What Happens During a Session
EAP sessions don't involve riding. Instead, you'll work with a horse on the ground, observing, interacting, and building trust, while your therapist helps you notice what comes up and connect it back to your life outside the barn.
Horses are highly responsive to nonverbal cues, movement, proximity, and changes in their environment. Because of this, interactions with horses can offer immediate opportunities to notice patterns in communication, boundaries, trust, connection and emotional regulation. With the support of your therapist, what happens in the barn can become meaningful information for understanding patterns that may also show up in relationships and everyday life.

Who Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy Is For
EAP can be a powerful fit for people working through:

-
Self-esteem and confidence
-
Life transitions and personal growth
-
Individuals who prefer experiential or body-based therapy alongside – or instead of relying solely on – traditional talk-based approaches
EAP may also appeal to people who feel they understand their patterns intellectually but are looking for a more experiential way to work with them.

Our Approach

Our equine-assisted work combines clinical expertise with experiential, relationship-based healing. Sessions are client-centered and responsive rather than scripted, allowing your therapist to thoughtfully integrate what unfolds with the horses into your broader therapeutic goals. You never have to perform, accomplish a task, or know anything about horses – the experience meets you where you are.
